The operation of a forge presents the user with a variety of physical and environmental hazards.  Oak Tree Forge can not be held responsible for misuse or abuse of this tool.  The buyer assumes full liability for any injuries received, or damages caused through the use or abuse of the products sold by Oak Tree Forge. The Oak Tree Forge has been manufactured to the highest standards utilizing top grade materials and components.

Special care needs to be taken whenever operating a forge and/or forge burners.  Examples of the hazards that need to be taken into consideration include but are not limited to the following:

  • Explosion – The operation of a gas burner in any enclosed structure such as the forge body and or forge room poses an extreme explosion hazard.  Special care must be taken to ensure there are no leaks in the forge plumbing and the forge burner remains lit whenever the gas is on.  The forge should NEVER be left unattended while running.

  • Carbon Monoxide Poisoning – The operation of a gas forge produces high levels of carbon monoxide which is poisonous.  Care must be taken to ensure proper ventilation to prevent the build-up of poisonous gases in the work area.  Install a Carbon Monoxide detector in the forge room to alert if a hazard exists.  If you experience dizziness or flu-like symptoms, turn the forge off and seek immediate medical attention.
  • Exhaust Ventilation – The forge generates an extreme amount of exhaust.  This consists of extreme heat and carbon monoxide.  Ensure the forge has suitable ventilation.
  • Fire – Ensure the forge has proper clearance from any object that may catch fire due to the heat of the forge. This includes workbenches, walls, ceilings, rafters, or other object that may catch fire.
  • Burns - Burns to self or property due to extreme heat generated by the forge burners
  • Tip over – The forge must be securely mounted on a suitable base
  • UV Radiation – proper eye care must be used to protect your eyes from the extreme UV radiation emitted from the forge chamber.
